How We’re
Different
A WORKSHOP FOR THE AGE OF AI
You care deeply about literacy outcomes for your students.
And in the Age of AI, smartphones, and social media, you believe it's more important than ever to cultivate students with a genuine drive to read.
We help school and literacy leaders tackle this challenge in a unique way.
Other trainings: Focus on developing students' reading skills from elementary through high school (from decoding to comprehension)
Our Workshop: Focuses on cultivating students' motivation to read through evidence-based, school-wide practices
The antidote to the age of distraction: Learn how school and literacy leaders can spark a culture where students want to read—and keep reading—through The Science of Reading Motivation.
Yes, It’s the Science of Reading. But It’s WHAT MOST TRAININGS LEAVE OUT.
Cognitive Science. Psychology. Neuroscience. Linguistics.
Many fields contribute to the extensive body of reading research.
A growing national movement is pushing to bring “the science of reading” into schools to better align literacy instruction with evidence from the research.
-
The catchphrase “the science of reading” is often narrowly understood as “phonics” (an instructional approach to teaching beginning readers that emphasizes the correspondence between written letters and spoken sounds).
While phonics instruction is supported by the research and is relevant for beginning readers learning how to sound out words, it is only one of many components of the science of reading.
-
Science of Reading trainings rarely address the significant body of research on reading motivation.
This is a major gap and leaves out a big piece of how schools can drive reading success.
Powerful reading outcomes emerge when a student possesses both the skills to read and the motivation to do so.
-
Our transformative workshop empowers principals and literacy leaders with:
the essential research findings on reading motivation
actionable strategies for school-wide implementation
the opportunity to transform your school’s reading culture
A Workshop That EmpowerS You with Knowledge AND Strategy
Some trainings help you acquire new knowledge, but leave you unsure how to use it to actually help kids.
Other trainings push specific strategies—but you’re left wondering if they’re backed by research evidence.
In our workshop, our goal is to empower you with:
Key knowledge from the scientific research
Specific, evidence-backed school-wide strategies that follow from that knowledge
Great leaders grow through learning—and lead by applying what they’ve learned. Our workshop helps you do both.
Designed for Your Demanding Schedule
Principals and literacy leaders never have enough time because leading and caring for others is demanding work that doesn’t stop.
Our workshop is designed to maximize the value of your time in the following ways:
-
The workshop consists of three, 2-hour sessions. You can fit this into your schedule more easily than a long training course with many sessions.
-
While asynchronous learning has its place, live, interactive learning with a teacher leads to much deeper understanding. Just as importantly, live learning fosters connections with a community of fellow leaders.
